The ongoing Central Drug Distribution Project in the State has been adjudged as on top speed, ahead of other States.
The Minister of Health, Professor Isaac Adewole, disclosed this yesterday when he was received by Deputy Governor, Dr. Nkem Okeke, on behalf of Governor Willie Obiano, at the Government House, Awka.
The project is ongoing in four different locations in the Country, namely, Aba, Onitsha, Lagos and Kano.
The Minister who emphasized the strategic importance of Anambra to drug distribution in the Country, said that the project is important as it will help monitor the quality of drugs, create jobs, as well as generate IGR for the State when completed, stressing that the deadline which was pegged at thirty first July this year, was shifted to thirty first December 2018, so as to meet all necessary requirements.
While stressing the imperativeness of the input of stakeholders in the pharmaceutical Industry to actualize the goal, Professor Adewole used the opportunity to commiserate with State government over the Ozubulu shooting incident, and appreciated the State Ministry of Health as well as the State Emergency Management Agency, SEMA, for rising to the occasion, even as he observed that the media exaggerated the reports, away from the reality.

Receiving the Minister and his team on behalf of Governor Obiano, Dr Nkem Okeke stressed that the present administration believe so much in good primary healthcare facilities for its citizens which is why State government has been doing the needful in that regard.
Deputy Governor Okeke pointed out that the idea of centralizing the drug distribution process will check the distribution and sale of fake drugs in the Country, and emphasized the proactiveness of the State government in rendering assistance to medical facilities, including those own by the missions.
On the Ozubulu incident, Dr Nkem Okeke, described it as a tragedy, and told the Minister that the Governor has done everything that is necessary to salvage the situation, even as he expressed optimism that those who are still in the hospital would soon regain their health.
Also present were the State Commissioner for Health, Dr Joe Akabuike, the Acting Director of NAFDAC, Mrs Yetunde Oluremi Oni, among others.
