Drug abuse has become more rampant in the past decade. For some, the introduction to drugs often marks the beginning of a downward spiral which could lead to death while too few get lucky to return to normal lives
via rehabilitation and counseling. These chances for redemption are further reduced as one moves lower the socio-economic ladder. Freedom Foundation has always looked to shine the light on these vices in the one place people often miss; the streets.
This past weekend, Freedom Foundation’s series, My Lagos Diaries, debuted across Nigerian TV stations. The 1st of 13 episodes featured the touching story of Fatima and her actual struggle with drug addiction. Over a period of 9 years, Freedom Foundation rehabilitated and restored Fatima even in the face of multiple relapses. After a third relapse, Fatima – now Faith – finally called it quits for real and has been clean ever since.
