BBC throws shade at President Buhari over ear infection

A major British news station, BBC Africa has stylishly called out President Muhammadu Buhari over his recent trip to London for health related issues.

President Buhari on Monday, June 6, took 10 days off to see an Ear, Nose and Throat specialist for a persistent ear infection in London.

However, the presidency denied the report, claiming the president was hale and healthy, thus casting doubts on the rumours.

In this article, Kibarkingmad and Olushambles debate the president’s trip to London last month – reportedly to to be treated for an ear infection after he had promised to end “medical tourism"
Dr. Enabulele, the vice-president of the Commonwealth Medical Association, said it was a “national shame” that the president went to the UK for treatment when Nigeria had more than 250 ear, nose and throat (ENT) specialists, as well as a National Ear Centre.

The doctor accused President Buhari of reneging on a promise to end “medical tourism” by seeking treatment in the United Kingdom.

The former NMA president urged Buhari to lead by example at curbing medical tourism and saving Nigerians the great loss incurred through numerous trips abroad for medication.
