Two men, identified as Bashiru Jelili and Madu Nwete, have been arrested by the Ogun state Police command for allegedly stealing transmission equipment belonging to Telecoms Giants, Etisalat.

The thieving duo reportedly ran out of luck after the police got a tip off regarding their activities and their hideouts.

According to the police, they allegedly broke into an Etisalat site in Isara-Remo and carted away eight heavy duty batteries. The batteries are said to cost about N1.2 Million.

Public Relations Officer of Ogun State Police Command, Abimbola Oyeyemi, confirming the incident on Sunday, said the suspects were arrested on Saturday following a tip off.
“They have earlier broke into the site of the communication giant where the heavy-duty batteries were stolen and sold to one Obinna who is now at large,” he said.
According to the police spokesman, investigation revealed that the said Obinna specialises in receiving stolen properties in the area. He also said the arrested suspects have made confessional statements and all the stolen batteries have been recovered.

Mr Oyeyemi said efforts are being made to apprehend the fleeing Obinna. He also said that the Commissioner of Police, Ahmed Iliyasu, has directed that the suspects be charged to court as soon as investigation is concluded..
