CNN Medical Reporter, Sanjay Gupta says Donald Trump has Heart Disease

CNN chief medical correspondent Dr. Sanjay Gupta suggests President Donald Trump has a common form of heart disease, based on the results of his coronary calcium CT scan.

Last week, Trump, 71, underwent a thorough catalog of physical exams which longtime White House physician, Dr. Ronny L. Jackson, deemed to be a clean bill of health.

Jackson revealed the President's heart health was 'excellent' for a man of his age, while a echocardiogram proved the muscular pumping chamber of his heart had been operating normally.

However, Gupta contradicted the positive outcome of the cardiac exam - based on Trump's coronary calcium score.

In a Wednesday CNN report, Gupta reported Trump's score of 133, which he said 'indicates plaque is present and that the patient has heart disease,' as the number is higher than 100.

The Emmy Award-winning chief medical correspondent reported that Trump's heart scan score has also continued to increase since 2009.

'In 2009 his coronary calcium score was 34. In 2013, it was 98,' he said, based on the President's medical records.

The numbers put Trump at higher risk for heart attack or other complications, if not managed properly.

Lenox Hill Hospital New York Cardiologist, Dr. Rachel Bond, added: 'What does this indicate? Yes, he certainly has coronary artery disease because calcium is present. But this is also common for someone his gender, race and age.

'When I compare him to other males who are 71 and white, only 46% of others have a better score than him.'

Not to worry, though - Gupta added that the common form of heart disease is not difficult to get under control.

'(It is) easy to address if he increases the dose of his cholesterol-lowering medication and makes necessary lifestyle changes.'
