Eagle Schnapps, Nigeria’s authentic Schnapps for the promotion of Culture & tradition, in keeping with its core values has sponsored the
recently held Iri-Ji Mbaise.
With 91 autonomous communities, the Iri-Ji Mbaise is the festival Mbaise people celebrate to herald the eating of the new yam while thanksgiving is given to appreciate the gods for the bountiful harvest.
According to the Chairman Mbaise Traditional Rulers, Eze Leo Nwokocha, the Atodire of Umunneato,"the Yam is a King crop and it is food everyone around enjoys, as such it is respected all around Igbo land".
He added that the significance of the festival is to teach the younger ones about culture passed to them by their forefathers. He concluded by saying after the “Ezeji” cut the new yam, it is enjoyed boiled with pepper soup or roasted with a peppery sauce
The Head of Marketing, Intercontinental Distillers Limited, Mr. Mobolaji Alalade said the Eagle Schnapps Brand is keeping its promise to support and promote Nigeria‘s Culture and Tradition. He assured the Mbaise community of continued support. He also added that events such as the Iri-Ji festival not only showcases Tradition but fosters peace in our communities.
Iri-Iji Mbaise 2018 was a mix of culture and politics as different politicians used the avenue to canvass for the support of the influential Mbaise People. Notable attendees include the Governor of Imo State, Rochas Okorocha and Governorship Aspirant Uche Nwosu.
The highlight of the festival was the pouring of libation with Eagle Schnapps while praying for the peace and prosperity of Mbaise Nation.
