The construction worker who was rescued from the rubble of a partially collapsed building in Abuja, has died.
The Federal Capital Territory Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) rescued the labourer after the building under construction collapsed around 3:30 pm on Saturday, November 25, 2023.
The incident occurred at a construction site located in the Central Business District, beside Taj Bank.
FEMA’s Head of Public Affairs, Nkechi Isa, confirmed the development to punch on Sunday.
“Yes, he died today,” the statement read.
Isa earlier stated that the deceased was among labourers at the construction site casting the first floor of the building when the entire cast reportedly fell on him.
The team from FEMA and the FCT Fire service were able to rescue the trapped man with the aid of extrication equipment and the construction company’s excavator.
The victim was rescued and taken to the Trauma Centre of the National Hospital, Abuja when he passed away.
