Former Vice President and chieftain of the All Progressives Congress, Atiku Abubakar, says the Supreme Court judgement upholding the election of the Adamawa State Governor, Abubakar Bindow, is a victory not only for democracy, but also for the sovereignty of the voters.
In a statement issued in Abuja on Friday by his Media Office, the former Vice President noted that the courts “are the final arbiter for affirming the will of the people”.
Abubakar added: “Once the will of the people is sustained, democracy gets consolidated and rooted ever deeper.”
The Turakin Adamawa also stated that he is proud of Governor Bindow’s achievements so far, especially the projects in infrastructure he has been executing since he was sworn into office.
The former Vice President explained that there is a nexus between performance and people’s faith in democracy.According to him, Governor Bindow has kept faith with his mandate since coming into office, adding that his dynamism and vision for development should be emulated by other politicians.
He said: “The consequences of failure produces a buyer’s remorse, which in turn leads to people’s’ loss of enthusiasm in democracy.”
Abubakar therefore, urges the people of Adamawa State to continue to support the efforts and the good work of Governor Bindow.
