ABUJA – The National Emergency Management Agency NEMA has said only six persons died in Saturday’s church collapse in Uyo, Akwa Ibom state.
NEMA’s Head of Media and Public Relations, Sani Datti in an updated statement issued Sunday in Abuja said after conducting a 360 degree search at the scene -both in and outside the church – about 115 persons were injured. The agency added that no one is currently left under the rubble as those affected had since been evacuated.
The Reigners Bible Church auditorium had a caved in on Saturday during the consecration of its pastor as a bishop, with many dignitaries including the state governor, Udom Emmanuel said to have escaped death by the whiskers.
