SaferSmarterChildren presents 'Child Sexual Abuse Prevention Training for Children'

I am Mrs Njideka Obi, Founder and CEO of SaferSmarterChildren Inc, a lawyer and a child safety advocate. I am a mother to three children aged 6, 4 and 2 and a wife.

SaferSmarterChildren Inc is a company committed to keeping children safe. It was established to create a safer world for children.
As a child safety advocate, I feel the need to teach children effective body safety rules and skills to keep them safe through my education and awareness initiatives. 95% of child sexual abuse is preventable through education/awareness and that is exactly what we are doing. Child molestation is increasing at an alarming rate and there is an urgent need to put a stop to it.

We go to schools all over to educate children free, on how to prevent child sexual abuse. We empower them with skills to be able to recognise sexual abuse, to react to it and to report it. Our training programs are highly effective.

We also educate children on how to avoid being kidnapped and what to do if they find themselves grabbed forcefully. They also learn how to avoid getting lost and what to do if they find themselves lost, so our education is all about child safety.

Most parents cannot be with their children every time and we can’t deny the fact that there are numerous dangers out there. We need to equip these children with knowledge and lifelong skills to be able to take charge of their safety. One of the skills we teach these children is how to be assertive. This skill is extremely important and it is a lifelong skill. If we don’t teach our children how to be assertive when someone they know or don’t know gives them an unsafe/bad touch, then we aren’t arming them with the right skill and knowledge.

The vision of SaferSmarterChildren Initiative is to empower millions of children across Nigeria on how to protect themselves from the growing number of predators out there. We are working really hard to have a country where child sexual abuse is tackled and prevention becomes a top priority.

We are calling on school owners in Lagos to register with us for the free child body safety training.

We are keen to partner and collaborate with private organisations and the government to ensure that our child safety education gets to millions of Nigerian children.
