Some residents of Mwana Village in Makuene County in Kenya attacked and burned down the home of a 65-year-old woman on Tuesday night after claims that she was responsible for bewitching some pupils at Mwende Primary School.
The woman who was identified as Grace Mwana was accused as being behind a wave of hysterical behaviour that had affected some of the pupils in the school.
According to this source, the deputy headmaster of the school, John Munovi, said one of the pupils who was apparently bewitched had mentioned the woman’s name. This was what prompted the attack on her house.
He said that about four of the pupils in the school were bewitched and were behaving hysterically. According to him the unusual behavior among the students started about two years ago.

The pupils behaviour has raised a lot of concerns among parents, and preachers have been invited to pray for them on a number of occasions.
When the group attacked her premises late Tuesday night, her husband and family had to flee from their home and seek refuge elsewhere.
The charred remains of the woman has been transferred to Makueni County Referral Hospital mortuary.
The Kenyan police claims they are investigating the matter and would follow it to a resolute end.
