Angelina Jolie is still struggling through an "emotionally difficult year" since splitting from Brad Pitt.
The Maleficent actress has admitted that she has not enjoyed a moment of being single since the sudden marriage break-up in September (16), and has simply been "trying to get through" the pain.
In a new Telegraph interview, the Oscar winner confesses, "There's nothing nice about it. It's just hard.
"Sometimes, maybe it appears I am pulling it all together, but really I am just trying to get through my days... Emotionally, it's been a very difficult year."
Angelina has been promoting her latest directorial effort First They Killed My Father and she admits she was feeling a little "shy" to be back in the public eye again.
"This is the first time I have done this for a long time. It's not easy. I am a little shy this time, because I am not as strong inside as I have been in the past," she confesses.
Angelina directed the movie, which has been adapted from a memoir by Loung Ung and documents the survival of the activist and lecturer at the hands of the Khmer Rouge in her eldest son Maddox's native Cambodia in the 1970s.
She has been holding interviews to discuss the movie but questions have inevitably turned to her private life.
The 42-year-old actress and the 53-year-old actor filed for divorce after two years of marriage and there has been much speculation surrounding the split with initial reports suggesting Pitt and Maddox had a showdown on a private jet.
