Makurdi flood: Atiku reacts, reveals how to address menace

Former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar, on Friday consoled with residents affected by flood in Makurdi, the Benue State capital.
Reports have it that no fewer than 25,000 persons have been rendered homeless in Makurdi by the perennial flooding.

Reacting to the situation, the former Vice President said the recent flooding in Nigeria and around the world is an indication that “our climate is changing,” adding that “we should be proactive in urban design and response.”

In a terse statement on his Twitter handle, the Waziri of Adamawa wrote: “My thoughts and prayers are with my people of Benue, who are dealing with floods in Makurdi and other parts of the state.

“Recent flooding incidents in Nigeria & around the world show our climate is changing. We should be proactive in urban design & response.”
