Emmett Till, who was gruesomely murdered at age 14 after a white woman said he made advances at her at her family's grocery store, will be getting a film done in his memory.
Emmett's murder and the fact that his killers were acquitted drew attention to the long
history of violence towards Black people in the United States and provided a catalyst for the civil rights movement. Thanks to Taraji P Henson, Emmett is finally getting his moment on the big screen.
Taraji will be producing and starring in the film about the young boy’s precious life.
The actress tells @GlobalGrind: "We don’t have a start date yet, but the deal definitely has been done. That’s one [film] that I’ve been passionate about since Trayvon Martin was murdered."
At the moment, the film is titled The Emmett Till Story and Taraji will play the slain child’s mother Mamie Till-Mobley. John Singleton will be directing the film.
