IGP Idris a bad influence on Buhari, defender of herdsmen – Ortom

Benue State Governor, Samuel Ortom on Thursday declared that the Inspector General of Police, Ibrahim Idris is a “bad influence on President Muhammadu Buhari, having turned himself to the mouthpiece and defender of the herdsmen.”

Ortom made the remark while receiving his counterpart from Ekiti State, Ayodele Fayose in Makurdi on Thursday.

He insisted that the police boss be fired, over his inability to handle the crisis between herdsmen and farmers.

The governor also maintained that restructuring of the country remains the panacea to this present “maladministration and open bias of the security agencies.”

Speaking further, Ortom said all cattle farmers in the state must embrace cattle ranching, stressing that “No retreat, no surrender on the total implementation of the State anti-grazing law.”

The governor chided the Police and the Minister of Defense for allowing called strangers to display arms openly and kill people.

He insisted the relocation of Idris was a ruse, saying, “the IGP came just once and ran back to Abuja insulting me and dancing on the graves of the innocent people of Benue State.”
The governor said the security agencies have “allowed herdsmen to take over the business of kidnapping and killings and were being protected by the IGP.”
