Nigerians have accused the Nigerian police of incompetence and negligence after the suspected kidnapper who allegedly slept off at the scene of the crime, died after 9 days.
The police said the suspected kidnapper was arrested at the scene of a botched kidnap operation in Owo, Ondo state, on August 5. He was reportedly asleep due to Tramadol overdose as he was taken into custody. He remained in custody "asleep" for days until he died on the 9th day following his arrest.
Nigerians believe there is more to the story about the suspected kidnapper and are now asking questions. Some say there is no proof he was a kidnapper and might actually have been framed. Others said he was probably in a coma all the while he was held in custody, and they criticized the police for not getting him medical attention when they saw he had not woken up after several days.
