Lady refers to her abusive dad as "male parent" as she recounts how he tried to push her mum off the balcony when she said she was leaving him
A Twitter user has narrated her mum's experience in the hands of her abusive dad.

The Twitter user recounted the tale while arguing that it isn't always easy or safe for women in abusive relationships to leave.

She said her father tried to push her mum off the balcony when she told him she was leaving him. The Twitter user couldn't bring herself to refer to him as her father so she called him her "male parent" in the tweet.

@cynnerr tweeted: "You leave an abusive relationship and there's no-one on the outside to help you, you'll turn around and go back to your oppressor & that's when they let you leave, I remember when my mom told my male parent she wanted to end the relationship he tried to push her off the balcony."

She added: "So no, it's not about courage, tell me there are consequences for their actions and stop putting the load on women to speak up, it's not like our society helps women who do."
